FAQs
Not in rooms where water is near a light fitting or switch. Turn that circuit off at the consumer unit if you can reach it safely, and have an electrician check the fittings before using them again.
That usually points to a failed seal around the tray, a leaking waste or a cracked tray rather than the supply pipes. Supply leaks tend to drip constantly, because those pipes are always under pressure.
Plasterboard that was only wet briefly often dries out and just needs redecorating. If it has sagged or soaked right through, it may need patching or replacing once the leak is fixed and the area has dried.
That is what the visit is for. The engineer uses each fitting above the ceiling in turn and watches for the drip to return, which narrows the source down without guesswork.
No. An emergency costs the same as any other call-out in the same time band. You pay for the time of day, not the word "emergency".
Travel within the area we cover, attendance, diagnosis and the first 60 minutes of work. After the first hour, time is charged in 30-minute blocks at the extra-time rate for the same band.
